Jonathan Barbieri is a fine-arts painter, screenwriter, inventor and Co-Founder of Pierde Almas S.A. de C.V. As an artist, his work is in public and private collections in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Over the past ten years, Jonathan has focused on promoting the culture and history of Craft Mezcal, taking care to preserve and respect the village aesthetic even as the category has exploded upon the World Stage.

Never adverse to innovation, in 2012 he introduced the first-ever Agave-based Gin, Pierde Almas +9 Botanicals, recently featured in the Wall Street Journal and awarded a score of 5+ by Difford’s Guid out of a possible five.

Mr. Barbieri’s screen play, Moronga, inspired by his 2001 painting series, La Pierde Almas and co-written with Director John Dickie, is currently in post-production and scheduled for distribution in 2015. Mr. Barbieri has also served as one of the Executive Producers and Production Designers on this project. The movie is a black comedy centered on life in a small town cantina in Southern Mexico.
