Born in Bordeaux, raised in Jarnac in the heart of the Cognac region, Alain Royer comes from a Family involved with Cognac since before the French revolution. Studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, then an MBA at HEC/ISA near Paris. Alain worked as a distiller, blender and liquor maker in Austria, also involved in producing Smirnoff vodka and Campari under licence at that time. Military service in the French Air Force. After 10 years in the Family company he launched the A de Fussigny Cognac brand, while at the same time developing the cognac and Armagnac venture for Château Lafitte Rothschild. Cross cultural passion lead him to work with the late Booker Noe at Jim Beam to create the first Master Piece for the Millenium. Other adventures of the kind lead him to be instrumental with projects with Parker Beam, with a  cognac cask finished whiskey, and also more recently with Drew Kulsveen from Willet Distillery. Today, he is VP Development for the Renaud-Cointreau group, developing the US market for the Védrenne line of liquors and cordials, Maurin Quina and the recently launched line of Maurin Vermouths. One of his present flagship activities is Cognac Frapin in the US
