Tales of the Cocktail 2015

Before all the Tales of the Cocktail® festivities kick off, we want to welcome you to our city with some old New Orleans charm. The entire Cocktail Apprentice team will be meeting at the revitalized Brennan’s Restaurant in the French Quarter for a classic New Orleans brunch hosted by New Orleans' own Sazerac Company. We will be joined by our friend Kris Comstock from Buffalo Trace who will talk about what his distillery has been up to and share samples from their impressive selection of whiskeys. Join all your fellow apprentices from around the world and let us serve you for a change.

This Peruvian-themed lunch is a unique opportunity to introduce to those selected for the Cocktail Apprentice Program to Peru's craft piscos including some that have not yet made it to the US. The menu will feature classic Peruvian dishes paired with cocktails designed to showcase the specific characteristics of each of the craft piscos specially brought to Tales of the Cocktail® for this event. Melanie Asher, Master Distiller and Master Blender of Macchu Pisco, will be on-hand to share the history and traditions of these piscos that embody the 3 different styles of pisco and represent unique grape varietals and give away some traditional swag like chuyos. Alberta Rye Dark Batch Whisky invites you to discover your dark side and rethink your rye with the Dark Batch Challenge, hosted by Canadian Whisky expert and author of Canadian Whisky, The Portable Expert, Davin de Kergommeaux and Beam Suntory Canadian Whisky Master Ambassador Dan Tullio. Brand new to the U.S. market, Alberta Rye Dark Batch will give guests of the Dark Batch Challenge the opportunity to test and be tested with a rye whisky unlike any other.

Following lunch, guests will explore their dark side, reinterpreting whisky cocktails with a unique innovation competition judged by Davin and Dan.

It is Saturday of Tales and Hendrick’s is here to pull you out of bed, poke a cucumber in your eye and feed you breakfast before one of the biggest days of the year.

With Ambassadors from all over the world this year your CAP breakfast will be available in various languages, accents and dialects.

The time has come. You have nearly made it through the marathon. It is bittersweet but you have the memories and that much more love.  So what's the best way to memorialize your most savage Hunter Thomson/Bukowski moments?  An indelible badge of honor, a CAP Tat!  Hochstadter's Slow & Low Rock and Rye will set up shop at Downtown Tattoo, so you can lay into a "full pull," (of our soon to be released 8year Old 100 Proof Rock and Rye,) hydrate with tall boys, and get inked.  Live Strong.
