19th century artisanship for the 21st century connoisseur
Friday, July 17, 2015
3:00 - 6:00pm
La Louisiane
725 Iberville Street
From the historic port city of Dordrecht in The Netherlands to the banks of the Mississippi River, Rutte, the smallest distillery in Holland, makes it’s U.S. debut at Tales of The Cocktail.
Rutte (ROOT-eh) crafts small-batch, handmade gins, genevers, and vodka in the same backroom that founder Simon Rutte used to distill his own concoctions back in 1872. The artisanal spirits are 100-percent natural with no artificial colors or flavors, and the recipes have been guarded and passed down for seven generations, refined and tailored for today’s audience. In 2011 Rutte joined De Kuyper Royal Distillers, an 11 generation family business with the same commitment to craftsmanship and heritage.
3:00 - 4:00pm
Join Rutte Master Distiller Myriam Hendrickx for an intimate, educational talk where she will introduce guests to the brand and delve into its deep history. She will then lead an in-depth tasting of Rutte’s unique products launching in the U.S.: Dry Gin, Celery Dry Gin, Old Simon Genever, and Vodka.
4:00-6:00pm
Get into the spirit by stepping off the streets of NOLA and into our Dutch port for the long awaited and much anticipated arrival of Rutte. While on this adventure you will enjoy great stories on craftsmanship and heritage and a passion for distilling. What to expect: handcrafted Rutte cocktails created by Rutte brand ambassadors, The Bon Vivants, paired with seafood, raw bar, other specialty dishes, laughter and fun.
