El Guapo Bitters
New Orleans, Louisiana
US Marine, Founder and CEO of El Guapo Bitters, Bartender. Scot originally created a line of bitters for use at a local bar he was managing in the French Quarter of New Orleans. With mounting pressure from Ann Tuennerman at Tales of the Cocktail, other friends, and fellow local bartenders he decided to create El Guapo Bitters. His first job behind a bar was in 1994 at an E Club on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, a night job while he was a young active duty Marine. Since that time he has moved through different facets of the industry from dive bars to craft bars, finally to creating a brand. While Serving in the USMC he picked up the nickname El Guapo, which means handsome, and is always quick to remind others there are worse nicknames to have! Scot is technically a disabled vet. But, he was lucky. He left the Marine Corps with a couple of bad knees and a little hearing loss. Some of his brothers and sisters in arms have not been so fortunate. Which is why El Guapo Bitters donates 10% of profits to support the men and women of our Armed Forces. Annually a donation is made to benefit the Semper Fi Fund. As a veteran Scot is committed to helping those who have served. And he is also committed to giving bartenders the tools they need by providing the most flavorful, interesting, and useful bitters and syrups. Using locally grown ingredients and organic whenever possible. El Guapo's goal is to give you a quality product, like you would make, in a cost effective manner to eliminate the need for you and your staff to make complex ingredients and give you more time to spend engaging your customers and building your business. This is a brand that is by bar professionals for bar professionals!
