Since being crowned the overall winner of the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge in 2012, David Delaney Jr. has been traveling the country and actively spreading the rich history and versatility of the House of Angostura's portfolio. While many know Delaney as a brand ambassador, David attributes his success to 14 years of hard work, dedication, and a strong desire to pursue both personal and professional development.
Delaney has vast experience within the restaurant industry in roles that range from dishwasher to restaurant/bar manager. While David has always enjoyed the creative outlet that bartending gave him, it wasn't until around 2008 that he truly realized the depth and potential for a career that it was setting him up for. Channeling this passion, David was given the opportunity to hone his craft while helping to open restaurants and develop bar programs for a number of concepts owned by the Niche Hospitality Group in Worcester, MA.
Outside of the bar and restaurant, Delaney has built an impressive resume in the world of mixology. In 2011, Delaney was named as a “Top Mixologist to watch in the United States” by Beverage Media Group and was also awarded 1st place for Imbibe Magazine’s Cover Cocktail Contest. His innovative cocktails have appeared in publications such as Whisky Advocate and GQ Magazine.
David is a 2012 graduate of the esteemed BAR 5-Day program and has apprenticed at such large scale events as Tales of the Cocktail and the Manhattan Cocktail Classic. David attributes his experience in the Cocktail Apprentice Program (CAP) to his professional growth and the strong relationships he’s forged within the industry.
